Free Time

One nice thing about GoAhead tours is the amount of free time you will get. On the Ireland tour we only had a couple of days that didn't have free time and that was primarily because of travel time and or the scheduling of a later event. Generally your afternoons will be free to explore on your own. One mistake Patti and I made, and I noticed others, was that we didn't research ahead of time the places we were going to have free time. We ended up just wandering around aimlessly without a goal. Therefore, I recommend you spend some time on TripAdvisor and compile a list of things you would like to do in each location.

Below is a picture of a tour boat from the city of Bath. There are probably 6 of these independently operated boats constantly going up and down a two mile stretch of river. While the journey was pleasant and peaceful I didn't find it particularly engaging and I don't recommend it. Also, the small boat we were on had many seats with no leg room (picture below) so if you do go get a big boat like this one.

My name is Rick Tuttle and I've been on the Board of Directors for the Kirkman House Museum... for a longgg time.  I always wanted to do trips to England and Ireland to see where William and Isabella Kirkman grew up. We went to Ireland in 2019 and now I'm planning Great Britain in 2023.  I've visited many of the places on this tour in 1993  and 2019 and am very excited to go back and share them with you.

If you are interested in the trip join our mailing list to the right and we'll invite you to a no obligation presentation or I'm happy to meet with you personally over an ice tea.
